Mosfet's Liquid KDE Engine is GREAT

Post by Daihar » Sat, 16 Nov 2002 01:37:41

Finally got to install Mosfet's Hi Performane Liquid KDE Engine on my RH
7.3.  Being unable to find an RPM package configured for RH, I had to do
manual compilation and file copying.  The result was well worth the effort.
This Engine is a BEAUTIFUL piece of work!  Besides, there are a lot of
nicely done KDE themes that take great advantage of Liquid Engine.  I'm a
truly happy camper. :)

Honestly, the only thing I find better on RH 8.0 than on 7.3 is the
good-looking font and cute icons.  Now that I've got Liquid and AquaFusion
icons, there's absolutely no reason to even consider upgrading to 8.0.

FYI, I've got a plethora of rh73 kde rpm packages for themes and icons
available from my website:
http://www.math.unl.edu/~rdieter/

You might want to take a look at the "crystal" icon set, which is also
*very* nice, IMO.

Hi Rex.

Thanks for the informaiton.  I will check out your Web site for more good
stuff.  About the Crystal icon set, I tried to download it from the Internet
last night but the connection on their end was so slow, I had to give it up.
I shall try again tonight!

Dai

One may as well begin with Daihard's letter to comp.windows.x.kde:

I used to use Liquid but always found it a bit buggy
(particularly the translucent effects).  I think Keramik
(included with KDE 3.1 but available from kde-look.org for
earlier versions) absolutely blows it away.  It just seems more
curvey and subtle. :)

Thanks for the info.  I'll get my hands on it.
