how stable is 3.0? if it is still "hero-ware," is there a 3.0.1

Bye,
Steve
I'm thinking of buildind/installing KDE 2.2 to help with testing, but
am wondering about it's stability. All I use is the desktop, Kmail
and Knode, and the "known problems page" seems to center on
konqueror, which I don't use, so I think I might be OK. If it would
make my machine crash a few times a week, that would be OK, since I
have a journaling filesystem, but I wouldn't do it if it crashes once
a day (or more).
So, would it be stable enough for my purposes? Or should I run away
from it, screaming my head off?
Thanks in advance.
