I tried that, and it does not work for these applets.
I am stumped.

1. Removing the desktop applet from the panel.
I only use one desktop, so I don't have a need for the desktop applet on the
panel, it just takes up space. How do I remove it? I didn't see an obvious
way to do it.
I use KDE 2.2.1 and RH7.2
