As the new maintainer for the Knewsticker scripts I would like to point you

It will explain to you, how you can enhance your Knewsticker through
scripting and executing so called pre-commands. There are two archives,
onewhich holds documentation on ho you can write your own knewsticker
scripts and one which has a few prewritten scripts, including a stock
ticker, a news to rss gateway and a mailbox grabber.
