No desktop any more!

No desktop any more!

Hi everybody,

My desktop has disapeared! All I get is that beige startup background and
the taskbar.

I've launched kppp and mozilla thanks to icons on the taskbar. Apparently,
everything works when launched from the taskbar, the K-menu or Konsole...
except Konqueror which crashes with a Signal 11 (SIGSEGV).

I tried startx both as user or as root but the result was the same. And when
I try to launch kdesktop from Konsole, all I get is:

ERROR: KUniqueApplication: DCOP communication error!

Message repeated until I kill kdesktop.

I don't understand why such a problem has appeared! I've installed nothing
new, I've made no * configuration. No nothing! I just shutdowned as
usually then powered on later and kdestop stopped working.

Does somebody have an idea about how to fix this problem without updating?

My config : SuSE 8.0, X 4.2 and KDE 3.0

See ya,

Thanks to Murphy, my desktop came back the way it disappeared: silently and
misteriously. May Thou be thanked, Murphy! Let Thy computer misteries happen
here and everywhere.  ;-)
