Very Computer

I added the 'System Monitor' applet to my taskbar. It was there
for a while and now it has disappeared. I can't add the applet again
because that option under Add->Applet is greyed out. (KDE2 apparently
thinks the System Monitor applet is already on the task bar).

Any ideas about how to get the System monitor back?

Did it get shoved off the side of the panel? If your panel is full and
there are two little arrows at the right, push the one that points right.

try to right-click on the task bar, Configure->Settings, change any
setting (you may change it back later on), click OK, and see whether this
helped.

Nope, the panel does not appear full and there are no arrows.
Any other ideas?

Thanks, I tried this and it didn't help either. I have another KDE
machine at work that hasn't had this failure occur. I'm going to
tar off a copy of its .kde and Desktop directories to see if I can
clone a good KDE config onto my machine here at home.

Meanwhile, any other ideas?
