Changing Virtual Desktops resolution

Changing Virtual Desktops resolution

Post by Ben Hag » Sun, 24 Nov 2002 22:57:20

Hi,
I'd like to be able to change the resolution of my desktop to match
the resolution of my monitor when I change monitor resolution, so that
I don't have to scroll around. Is this possible with kde?

Thanks

Most likeyly, it has to be done thru XF86Config-4 setup.
The relevant section looks something like this:

        DefaultDepth 16
        Subsection "Display"
                Depth 16
                Modes "1400x1050" "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768"
        Virtual 1280 1024
#        Virtual 800 600
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Setting Virtual to different values and restarting X after the
change might help.

1. How to change Virtual Desktop Resolution?

I know how to change between the different modes listed in my config file
(crtl-alt-+/-)

How does one change the virtual desktop resolution?  Is there a quick and
dirty keystroke or does XFree86 4.2.0 only support one size of virtual
desktop?
