KDE on RH 7.1 (Dependencies)

KDE on RH 7.1 (Dependencies)

Post by Probi » Sat, 21 Jul 2001 00:32:05

When trying to install KDE on RedHat 7.1, I get an error message when
processing the RPM files.

Failed Dependences

libcrypto
libsensors
libssl
libkmid
liblver
libldap
libcrypto
libssl
zip
unzip

What is my next step before I can install KDE?  I am assuming that something
else now must be first installed but I could not locate anything in the KDE
guide relating to this.

Thx!

Install the following RPMS:
openssl  (libcrypto, libssl)
lm_sensors (libsensors)
openldap (liblver, libldap)
zip
unzip

(Except libkmid which is part of the kdelibs-sound rpm)

Hi Rex,

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately it seems that most of those were
already installed.

The only rpm which wasn't was lm_sensors, every other package said 'already
installed'.  I continue, however, to receive the failed dependencies when I
try to install kde.

???

Let me perhaps elaborate further on the files

libcrypto.so.0
libssl.so.0
libkmid.so.0
liblber.so.1
libldap.so.1
libcrypto.so.0
libssl.so.0

Stupid thing, I just got made and forced the install with no dependencies...
it worked.

Thanks!

If you are using command line, please post your exact error message.

Copy it from your virtual terminal.

That's odd.  libcrypto.so.0 is for openssl095 and openssl-0.9.6 ships with
redhat 7.1.

Are you sure you're installing the correct KDE rpms (The one's on the
Redhat cd)?

Provided by openssl095 which kde for redhat7.1 should be using anyway.

Quote:> libkmid.so.0

Provided by kdelibs-sound

Quote:> liblber.so.1
> libldap.so.1

Provided by (old) openldap12.  Again, shouldn't need this.  openldap(v2) as
shipped with redhat provides liblber.so.2, libldap.so.2

Wierd.

        lame >= 2.89 is needed by kdebase-2.2.1-0.rh71.2.cups
