Pointers needed to Proxy server info

Pointers needed to Proxy server info

Post by Ben Sandle » Wed, 29 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Can someone please point me in the right direction?
I'm looking to set up a proxy server running RedHat Linux which will
allow internet access (all the relevant protocols) through use of
logging into a proxy server account with password when using the
connection (such as through netscape's proxy settings).  I've used IP
forwarding before, but it was promiscuous, ie. anyone on the network
with my machine as their gateway could use it, no proxy settings.

URLs and FAQs would be much appreciated,
Ben

1. Setting up proxy server - info needed

Can someone point me to somewhere I could find info on setting up a
RedHat 5.1 box as a full proxy server (ie, http, ftp, telnet, ping,
etc.)?  It looks like apache does it for web, but I'm looking for a full
proxy server.  It would be used for a small Windows95 and Linux network.

Thanks,
Ben
