I installed Crack 5.0 on an Aix 421 server ( from bull free software site ).
I used shadmrg.aix to merge /etc/security/passwd and /etc/password.
I launched Crack -makeonly and crack -makedict and Crack ./fichier.
Crack guessed some of user password but give me only [<no-ciphertext>] as
result. And he is also very
fast.
What's wrong ?

0:Guessed user [<no-ciphertext>] [./fichier /usr/bin/ksh]

I want to install a french dictionnarie. Where must I put it ?

I am using Crack on AIX 4.3.2 and am receiving invalid ciphertext messages
from Reporter.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me what shadmrg.aix is?

I figured out what shadmrg.aix is for and now I get the same messages you get.

If I figure out the answer I will let you know.

When you get a <no-ciphertext> response it means that that user's password is
not configured. You can confirm this by assigning an easily guessed password
to a user that currently produces the
<no-ciphertext> message. Crack will now show the guessed password. I hope
this helps.

I'me not sure to understand the exact sense of not configured. If it means
that there is no password for the
user, I don't agree with that. There is a password. I stopped working with
crack and I installed John The ripper wich
works perfectly on Aix. ( You can find it at
ftp://ftp.TU-Cottbus.De/aix/bull.mirror/out/ ).
