Crack 5.0 Install

Crack 5.0 Install

Post by Fred Medic » Sat, 26 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hey There,

I'm trying to install Crack 5.0 on my server and am having trouble.

The install looks like it goes fine, but when I run Crack against /etc/passwd,

and then run ./Reporter, I see this:

---- passwords cracked as of Fri Sep 25 14:30:31 PDT 1998 ----

cat: run/D*: No such file or directory

---- errors and warnings ----

cat: run/D*: No such file or directory

---- done ----

I'm running RedHat 5.0 and didn't tweak Crack or lindes at all after the download.

Any ideas?

Grrr.  Please stop posting HTML.

Quote:>cat: run/D*: No such file or directory

Crack creates data files ($CRACK/run/D*) when it runs the "cracker"
process.  You don't have these data files, so probably that process
isn't running at all, do a "ps auxww | grep cracker" to verify it.

Maybe you ignored errors from the build process?
