I've found that a former employee has attempted to cause malicious
damage to a server in our nework. Is there a government agency I
should report this to so it's documented in case I have any further
problems or need to seek legal recourse?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Consult an attorney. Your local police may or may not be of assistance,Quote:> I've found that a former employee has attempted to cause malicious

If damages in excess of $5k were incurred, the F.B.I is required to
investigate, assuming
you report it to the "authorities".
Good luck.
Be sure you want this. The logs must usually still exist on the machine,
and the machine itself can be pulled in as evidence. You can lose your
site with no options once his lawyer gets in the act. You might want to
consult an attorney. Its often safer to sue him for damages, especially
if multiple jurisdictions are involved (such as him being in another
state). Or sue him for attempts to damage the companys good name by
making them look like security failures. Loss of possible profits. :-)
