PROBLEM: HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) has the
potential
of allowing authenticated users access to restriced files.
PLATFORM: HP 9000 servers running release HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11 only.
DAMAGE: Potential increase of privileges.
SOLUTION: Apply the appropriate patch for your systems:
HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11 PHSS_27411
MANUAL ACTIONS: Install repaired binary.

A. Background
Hewlett-Packard makes available for web download from its
software
portal located at www.software.hp.com the Instant Support
Enterprise
Edition (ISEE) product U2512A to entitled HP Support customers.
A flaw permitting unprivileged users access to privileged system
files has been discovered and repaired. This affects HP product
number U2512A only on HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11 servers.
To determine if your client has the vulnerable package installed,
execute:

B. Recommended solution
HP has made the patch binaries available from an ftp server
hprc.external.hp.com. The account has been created to enable
timely downloading of these binaries.

Retrieve the binaries and verify the correct size, cksum output
and MD5 fingerprint.

Then swinstall the .depot.
For future installs of the ISEE product, a new software version
containing this fix has been posted to www.software.hp.com.
