cannot compile Saint-1.4

Post by mlbw.. » Thu, 09 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I am running Solaris 7 on a Ultra-5 machine
I have the most updated version of gcc and Perl installed

However, after running the command "make sunos5" in the saint-1.4
directory ( where I put the software in), I got the following error:
=====================================================================
cd src/misc; make "LIBS=-lsocket -lnsl" "XFLAGS=-DAUTH_GID_T=gid_t -
DTIRPC" "RPCGEN=rpcgen"
cc -O -I. -DAUTH_GID_T=gid_t -DTIRPC  -c  md5.c
/usr/ucb/cc:  language optional software package not installed
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `md5.o'
Current working directory /opt/saint/saint-1.4/src/misc
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all'
Current working directory /opt/saint/saint-1.4
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `sunos5'
======================================================================

Can anyone suggest me how I can solve this problem?

Thanks,
Melvin

"make" is trying to use cc (which isn't installed)
instead of gcc.  Try the command "make CC=gcc sunos5".
Or if gcc isn't in your path, use the full path to gcc.

As far as I could tell from a little research, Saint will not work on
Solaris 7
