Bull and Amdahl Announce End-to-End Security Solution for Internet Business

Bull, Amdahl to market Bulls new ISM/AccessMaster Internet management capabilities
for securing public, private networks throughout the global open enterprise

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 1996 --  In a move that promises to bring electronic commerce
and other Internet-based applications a giant step closer to practical reality,
Bull and Amdahl announced at NetWorld+Interop opening here today that they will
jointly market extensions to Bulls ISM/AccessMaster security management software,
including new capabilities that provide end-to-end enterprise-wide network, system
and security management to the Internet.
The new enhancements, AccessMaster Release 2.2, extend centralized security and
management services to firewalls and other public network devices, such as remote
access servers.  These allow companies to open their secured private networks to the
unsecured Internet by offering an end-to-end security solution.  The new capabilities
will allow organizations to secure such applications as:
Business transactions, such as electronic commerce, electronic payment
Community exchanges, such as bulletin boards, electronic mail, Web access and chat groups
Telecommunications by telecommuters and nomadic, mobile workers
 Communications over low-cost public networks.

A Snapshot of ISM/AccessMaster
AccessMaster provides to the administrator the capability to manage the global Internet/
Intranet Enterprise network from a single point.  AccessMasters global administration
is based on a centralized  user management for any Internet/Intranet component, including
firewalls, remote communication servers, mainframes, departmental servers, LANs and
workstationsThe AccessMaster solution permits any granted end-user through the public
network to access to a set of authorized services transparently.  The end-user is authenticated
with the AccessMaster security server and crosses transparently the firewall.

AccessMaster  provides a single sign-on facility that brings secure access to information
on private and public networks transparently for the end-user.
AccessMaster  provides standard mechanisms (DCE and SESAME) and high level interfaces
(including GSS-API) to easily implement security of very large scale, distributed and
heterogeneous applications
AccessMaster provides a central audit service, which allows applications or security
services to audit critical actions.  It consolidates all the audit information from any
Internet devices as well as from any internal devices into a centralized Audit correlation
application.
Workstation security software integrating AccessMaster libraries, provides a front-end
to securely access the system.  It authenticates the workstation users, audits sensitive
actions and protects the workstation local resources.
