NCAR/UCAR in Boulder, CO, has a new opening for a systems administrator to
supervise, monitor and administer computer systems and network security and
security-related activities.

Position works with advisory committee and other system administrators to
implement computer and network security guidelines, respond to security
issues, establish and monitor security logs and network environment for
potential violations and track suspected security incidents.  Assists in
installation and usage of security hardware and software, establishes and
maintains knowledge and procedures for responding to network security

Requires B.S. in computer science, and at least four years' progressive
experience in computer industry, with a specialization in UNIX systems
administration and IP networking, and an interest in specializing in computer
and network security issues.  Must have state-of-the-art knowledge and
experience in system administration and maintenance techniques, including
experience in system upgrade procedures, application of patches, and
proficiency in C and shell or perl scripting languages.  Experience in
network (LAN) administration and remote system administration is desireable.
Experience, or a strong interest in gaining experience, in computer and
network security issues, security breach diagnostic and prevention
procedures, and security enhancement procedures is highly desireable.

Starting salary $3,381-$5,071/month with excellent benefits, including
