Help! I've gotten this far...

Post by Nicolas Krini » Mon, 22 Feb 1999 04:00:00

Now that I've got everything up and running, I'm trying to install Linux
4.
I have my Redhat folder on the Desktop with the appropriate rpms and
base, but Linux can't seem to localise it for the install. The partition
is sda11 (the HFS part of the internal HD-scsi0.0-).
I know I'm supposed to indicate the folder which *contains* Redhat.
So I choose sda11 HFS and the path is /Desktop. The message I'm getting
is: cannot find the installation tree in order to install the files.
Either I'm missing a file or I'm not indicating the path properly.
It's a real bummer to get this far (playing around with so many versions
of BootX, ramdisk.gz and vmlinux, rebooting so many times that I'm
getting RSI to my right wrist), it's a real bummer not to be able to
proceed any further. Can anyone please help?

Kind regards

Move your RedHat directory to the Macintosh HD off the desktop. It can't be
there.
Are you using the instructions from www.linuxppc.org?
when it ask the path, don't put anything. just select the device you're
using. (the /dev/hda# of your mac OS partition)
Good Luck,

Thank you Don. I tried this already to no avail. I even re-downloaded
the base files ( I wouldn't redownload the RPMS files because I already did....thrice).
Oh well, there are worse things in life I suppose...

Kind regards
