Problems on Blue G3

I am following the instructions for the X-based installer on
linuxppc.org, and having many problems. I've worked my way through the
past ones, but I can't seem to figure this out.

Basically, I'm done with the installation, and now I'm at the part where
I boot in single-user mode to do more stuff. Well all the problems seem
to be with mounting and using the exchange(and maybe others too)
partition. It says it's already mounted or in use or locked, depending
on what I'm trying to do. Anyone know why this might be happening?

Maybe the partition is really already mounted? Try entering 'df' to
learn what partitions are mounted and where. If you find your partition
listed, you can access it through the mount-point that is given there.
If you want to mount the partition at another mount-point, or if the
partition was mounted read-only but you want it read/write, umount the
partition first, then mount it again with the desired options.
