Hi -- is anyone aware of a way to emulate a 3 button mouse with
keyboard/click combos using DR3 and a standard Apple mouse? I know click
and option-click are left and center, but what's the right button?
Thanks

: Option-click works for center? Didn't know that. Option-2 also works for
: center, and option-3 for right. Of course, since I have a 3-button mouse
: now, I don't need to know these anymore!
Did you change any mouse-related config options when you got the 3-button
mouse? I have a Kensington trackball with four buttons, but all of them
just give me button 1 mouseclicks. It's kinda frustrating to have all
the extra mouse buttons I need and _still_ be using option-3 for a right
click.

A number of people on the MkLinux Setup mailing list have been working on
revisions to DR3 to fix problems and add support for hardware, etc. I
don't know if the Kensington trackball is one of the devices that they've
gotten working (quite possibly).
In particular, see MkLinux-Setup Digest V3 #598. You can get these from
mailing list archives:
<ftp://ftp.apple.com/lists/mklinux-setup/98-Oct/v03.n598>
In this "issue", David Gatwood introduces his Generic-03 Kernel/Server
Pair. It incorporates a number of patches from various sources. You
don't need to use both the new Mach kernel and linux server (vmlinux), you
can use either or both. I would start with just the Mach kernel to begin
with, since that is where most of the mouse related stuff is done.
Also, if Generic-03 doesn't work, you might want to try Generic-02 or
earlier. It's really easy to replace the Mach kernel - simply download it
and pop it in the extensions folder (MacOS), and reboot. Keep the old one
around, just in case.
Good luck!

I've been eyeing the Intuos pad with the 4-button mouse/puck. Wonder
if that's supported yet, or when it will be.

1. MkLinux DR3 window size and mouse problems
1. In DR3, I have been switching among KDE, fvwm, and AfterStep. How
can I configure X so that I'm not constantly resizing windows? The
Netscape window in AfterStep is a prime example: although the main
window is too large, I am able to resize it. In preferences, though,
there is nothing I can do to resize the window. Even if there were, this
is a sophomoric way to operate in the X environment. I know there is
some file that can be modified to ensure that windows fit the screen, I
just haven't been able to find it.
2. I am severely hamstrung mouse-wise. I have the standard 1-button
mouse, and keyboard commands to emulate the other buttons always crash
the X-server -- usually the OS as well. There must be some fundamental
and severe problem here, because Linux should be, as I understand it,
difficult to crash.
