Afterstep customization...

Post by Mike Willhid » Tue, 21 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Hello all,
I'm trying to add netscape to my start menu.  I've added the file
2_netscape to my ~/GNUstep/Libraries/Afterstep/start directory.  Here
are the contents of the file:

Exec "Netscape" exec netscape
MiniPixmap "mini-app.xpm"

What am I doing wrong?  The problem is when I try to launch netscape
from my new menu option, the netscape window starts to draw, and then
I'm dumped back into xdm.  I don't understand.  Netscape works just fine
when I type 'netscape' from a terminal.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Michael

The new menu option works fine if I have already run netscape by typing
the command during the current session, but it fails if I try to use the
menu option for the first run of netscape.

1. login / customization

I am curious as to how one goes about customizing the prompts/ vars for
/bin/login ?

Ex:

Trying 0.0.0.0...
Connected to 0.
Escape character is '^]'.

Red Hat Linux release 4.1 (Vanderbilt)
Kernel 2.0.27 on an i586
login:

I know i can mess with issue files and wotnot, but what about changing
'login:' to something else... like "username:" or somehting else more
silly.  I have searched extensively (well not too extensively or i
wouldn't be posting here :) ) on this subject to no avail.  :(

I have a feeling it is /etc/login.defs (im running shadow) or something
similar.

Stumped.  :(
