Getting LinuxPPC Images burned.

Post by Thomas Haschk » Tue, 31 Oct 2000 00:33:18

Hi

Linux PowerPPC offers CD-Images on there ftp site. However these are no
iso-images. I do not have a cd-writer for the I-Mac where i want to get
Linuxppc installed. I only have an intel machine with a cd-writer. Is it
possible to burn the CD there?

Thanks,
Thomas Haschka

Thanks for helping me!

I've downloaded the "LinuxPPC_2000_Full.image.bin". This is a 623Megs
file, and it doesn't seems as if it can be expendet by the Suffit
Expender. Do I really need to uncompress the file, or could I burn it
with Nero, even having the .bin extendion?

Thanks

Yeah, no prob.  It won't change the image by burning it from a Winders
machine, and that's all one would be concerned about.  I don't see any
problems.

I'm having the same problem and need to know what CD authoring software I
should use, I have tried the stuff from Sony (CD Creator, and I have tried
Sony's Spressa to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. LinuxPPC Install Image Burn on Windows Mashine

I downloaded the Linuxppc.Install Image.bin. I decoded it wich Alladin
Expander for Win. Now I have the IMG File. I tried with the Tips I read in
this NG, -burned with Nero (raw data) , but the CD is not readable. Can
someone who has done this with success give me an complete advise how to
burn it ? What for instance have I to choose in the options Dialog from
Nero: Mode1? Raw Data? Sector-Size? Why cant the Linuxppc-People put this
Image not as ISO-File on the Download-Servers?

Michael
