I had the same keyboard troubles. If you can manage to run the program
kbdconfig, you should be ok. It'd probably be best to boot into single
user mode (do this by passing 'single' in the "more kernel arguments"
field of BootX), and then somehome manage to run the program. If it
says command not found, then the program's directory isn't in your
path. You need to specify the full path ( on my machine its
/usr/sbin/kbdconfig). Hopefully this should fix the keyboard.
For the mouse: try mouseconfig. And I'm not sure if Xconfigurator has
a mouse section or not.
