i'm running kernel 2.4.17 and xf86 4.1 and i'm trying to get X to start.
It starts fine but the screen goes blank(turns off) and i have to kill
it through a remote connection. Theres no errors in the /etc/Xfree86.log ?
What am I doing wrong?

1. "Network unreachable" on iMac 233 (ethernet)
My iMac 233 with LinuxPPC 1999 Q3 can't communicate with the outside
world, although it can ping itself.
I used linuxconf to set up the network, using ethernet. I left the
"kernel module" section blank in linuxconf -- what kind of ethernet chip
is in my computer? MACE? BMAC?
I have a feeling I need to upgrade my kernel. I'm currently using the
default one. Which one has the proper ethernet support? Do I have to
compile it, or can I install it with RPM, or can I just stick a
pre-compiled binary into the "kernels" folder on the mac side, and then
select the new kernel in BootX?
TIA,
Peter Lindberg
