KDE 2.2 on SuSE 7.1/PPC

KDE 2.2 on SuSE 7.1/PPC

Post by Roland Seuh » Sat, 18 Aug 2001 08:07:04

I am running SuSE7.1 on my Pismo and I installed SuSE's KDE2.2 packages 2
days ago.
It seems to work exept that KDE does not find any icons at all which makes
it pretty useless.
I've no idea what can be the problem since in /opt/kde2/share/icons there
are 6MB of icons.

Did anybody try SuSE's rpms yet?

1. Updating to KDE2.2.2 on SuSE 7.1

I'll be the first to admit I'm a Linux newbie, but something so simple is
driving me nuts!

I've blown away my installation twice in the last 36 hours trying to get
KDE2.2.2 installed "the hard way".
I spent at leat 20 hours finding all the missing dependancies alone, and
still not working. Basically, I am stuck in a loop with one of the ssl
libraries - can't remember exactly which, as I'm in Windows now, but
basically libssl(something)so.9.6.1 relies on libssl.so.0 and libso.o.0
won't let you install as it says other things depend on libssl.9.6.1.
Basically, I seem to be in a catch 22 situation.

I saw a script in an earlier posting:
I was wondering if anyone had, for definite, had any luck with this script
on a Suse 7.1 installation?

I don't need the games and whatever - just a simple "1,2,3" of how to
upgrade...can't find one anywhere on the web.
