SANE and C syntax I/O port addresses for QuickCam

SANE and C syntax I/O port addresses for QuickCam

Post by Tim Carrol » Fri, 03 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Greetings,

I think that I might have compiled SANE with QuickCam support, at
least the libraries are installed after an uneventful compilation.

However, in order to test whether the thing works, I need to configure
the I/O port address of the device, in "hexadecimal format, using C
syntax". An example of the syntax is given, "0X37b", but I am unsure
of where I might find this address for, say, the printer port of my
9500.

I would appreciate any pointers to a resource where I might look up
this address.

SANE and C syntax I/O port addresses for QuickCam

Try the apple web site. Look in the tech info library.

1. Quickcam with sane

I'm trying to get a colour Quickcam working on my UDB running 2.0.34.
gcc 2.7.2.1 was already installed and I compiled and installed glib 1.1.2,
gtk+ 1.1.1 and sane 0.74 without any noticable problems, although I did
notice that the UDB is a little slower than the 433MHz and 600MHz alphas
I normally use! (The reason for using the UDB is that the other systems
run DU and my other linux system is at home...).

OK, after waiting for it all to compile (about 4 hours) everything seems
to work ok, except that sane doesn't see the QuickCam :-( I've set up
/usr/local/etc/sane.d/qcam.conf to point to /dev/lp0 but every time
I run xcam to test things out xcam only sees the two "built-in" devices
and never the QuickCam.

Any pointers to suggestions of how to debug this would be appreciated. I
already know that the camera works and can be accessed on the UDB as I have
already sucessfully saved images using qcam.
