bootX and mount problems

Post by Jean-Fran?ois Boisvieu » Fri, 13 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I'm totally ignorant about mac. I've just installed linux ppc on a G3
powerbook using bootX and
kernel v2.1.127.  It was painless *but* I have 2 problems which need
assistance:

1. when I switch on the powerbook bootX appears as it should, but if I
choose linux  I've an error message
(in an ugly window) which state
"couldn't hold/lock memory (#-622)
file BootX.c, line 1227"  with a cancel button. Clicking the cancel
button start the macos boot.
Fortunately, under macos when I launch bootX and click linux all goes
nicely as expected .

2. I've compiled the kernel and I want to test it, I've to copy the
zImage to /mnt on which I've mounted
/dev/hda7, *but* linux states that /mnt is full although under macos
100Mo are available.

any assistance for a completly mac newbie will be greatly appreciated

I had the same problem with this error message. I changed the disk cache
size. Reverting back to default fixed the problem.
