stuck on OpenFirmware/MacPicasso 540

Post by Ulrich Hab » Mon, 18 May 1998 04:00:00

It seems I am a little running in circles here. Here is to the funny
ones ..the misfit ..

I own a Mac 9600/350 with a MacPicasso 540 graphic card. This is just a
little bit of my /var/log/messages file. It doesn't recognize the
graphic card but it knows its type and set the video mode. I just tried
to change the video settings using rdev /dev/sdaX -2 but without
success. My monitior just remains dark after the reboot. Is there any
chance to change things or is there a driver for this card out there.
Any suggestions ?

1. LinuxPPC 2000/Gnome/MacPicasso 540

I'm just starting to use LinuxPPC on my upgraded 7500 but I find graphics
performance under Gnome very slow and jerky but under KDE it works fine
both using my installed MacPicasso 540 Graphics card. Are there any
pointers for tweaking the graphics setup for Gnome bearing in mind I am a
complete newbie!!

Cheers

Phil
