REV D iMac Install

Post by Joshua Ru » Wed, 08 Dec 1999 04:00:00

LinuxPPC says -

Revision D iMacs should use the Blue G3 installation documentaion. Treat
your machine as a Rev. 2 Blue G3.

So I'm following the instructions from

http://www.linuxppc.com/blueg3/

I'm using the text based installer
(http://www.linuxppc.com/blueg3/g3_howto_r5t.shtml)

I'm getting a USB not found error during the boot seq.

I've installed

BootX 1.2b3
vmlinux-2.2.6-rev2.gz
BlueG3 - R5 - ramdisk.image-R5.gz

I have a grape REV D iMac with 64mb of ram and the standard 6gb hd

Any thoughts.

I've installed linuxppc on a Wallstreet and an 8500 - no problems.

REV D iMac Install

I have been getting the same error message on startup (iMac Rev D), but
the mouse and keyboard still work at least most of the time. If the
machine starts up and the keyboard doesn't work, unplugging it and then
plugging it in sorts the problem out for me.

On the other hand the pipe and tilda keys on the keyboard don't seem to
do anything - they don't even produce an event in xev...so if anyone has
any ideas on this...

It might be worth having a look around http://www.imaclinux.net/

1. iMac Rev. D-Problems with Install

Hi,
I'm having problems installing Linux PPC on my iMac 333mhz.  I'm
using the latest CD (Linux PPC Q3).  When I try to launch the installer
from bootx it doesn't recognize my keyboard or mouse.  When I try using
the red hat intaller I get the same error message.  When I unplug the
keyboard and mouse from the computer while I'm getting the error
message, it starts up fine.  Of course, then I can't control the
computer anymore.  Some help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
