ReiserFS under LinuxPPC?

Post by Oliver Margra » Thu, 19 Apr 2001 02:06:09

Hello NG,

running SuSE Linux with ReiserFS on an Intel platform, I wonder if
there's the possibility to run LinuxPPC with the ReiserFS and if there
is, how?
tia.

ReiserFS under LinuxPPC?

Hi,

I am going to try this out this weekend or next week, but I think that
should work.
If I have understood this, BootX loads Kernels from the given
directory on the HFS partition. So it should work to compile a
2.4.3 (or so) Kernel with ReiserFS and put it on the HFS directory.
Then backup boot and os partition on another ext2fs partition or
machine, mkfs.reiser on the old boot ext2fs partition, restart,
mount old ext2fs, copy data back and enjoy...

Hi Oliver,

so...

Grusz, Jochen...

ReiserFS has some endianness issues on PPC, and therefore does NOT work, but
if you wait a while all will be well (it's being ported right now).
