dhcp on powerbook g3 using pump

dhcp on powerbook g3 using pump

I'm on an adsl network and I'm trying to get dhcp working under linux.

I've installed the latest version of pump I could find 0.7.2-2 just in case
there was a bug in the version that came with linuxppc 1999.  I used
netconfig to no avail.  So I enabled debug in syslog so I could post it
here, maybe someone could make heads or tails of this.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong since I've been given an internal
IP address and haven't put that anywhere.  Does that go in /etc/pump.conf?

1. Firewall+DHCP (pump) Strange DHCP behavior HELP!

Hi,

I am trying to install a strong firewall script in my Linux
router. It is based on

        http://rlz.ne.mediaone.net/ftp/firewall/rc.firewall.ipchains

I have RedHat5.2 with some RedHat6.0 rpms: kernel2.2.5, initscripts,
pump, dhcpcd, ipchains, ... (everything needed by the 2.2.5 kernel to
work).

I am using "pump" (in RedHat6 pump is used to call dhcp) to get my IP
address. I therefore added a line in my

        /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifdhcpc-done

file to call my rc.firewall script. But it doesn't get called!!!

Also, my script
(see http://rlz.ne.mediaone.net/ftp/firewall/rc.firewall.ipchains)

uses /etc/dhcpc/hostinfo-eth1 to determine it's ip address. But this
file doesn't contain the correct ip address.

It seems that dhcpcd (or pump) don't update the file
/etc/dhcpc/hostinfo-eth1
to give the correct ip address.

What is going on???
Thank you,
Francois Magnan
