How to emulate a 3-button mouse with a standard Apple mouse?

How to emulate a 3-button mouse with a standard Apple mouse?

Post by Oliver Fric » Tue, 03 Oct 2000 04:00:00

I have LinuxPPC2000 installed and use it with a standard 1-button Apple mouse.
I have no idea how to make a "right-click". I think I do this by pressing an extra key
on the keyboard together with the mouse button. But no key seems
to work.
Where and how can I configure the mouse correctly?

You'll need a three-button mouse - like the one I'm using :-).

Or do I like I did.  Give up trying to make it work.  I bought a Logitech
3 wheelmouse (optical).  Works great in Linux and OS 8.6 and was only $20

I have my machine set up to use F11 and F12 as the middle and right
buttons. It's not quite as elegant as a three button mouse, but it's a
lot cheaper ;-)

I had to add a kernel argument in the Bootx control panel to make it
work. I don't have it in front of me, but it came in the YDL install
manual and it's probably on their web site (www.yellowdoglinux.com)

1. Emulating 3-button mouse/trackball with a 2-button device?

I'd like to hook up a trackball to an Ultra-10. I got the converter box
that lets
me hookup PC devices to it. Since I like to use the middle button for
pasting, I need
so somehow emulate the 3'rd button. Can somebody tell me how to map the
two-button versions
to emulate the standard 3-button mouse. I've seen this on Linux.

Please e-mail

Thanks
Axel
