A long time ago I began a search for _C_ News, and I thought I found
it on SCO's server somewhere.  That was a long time ago.  I know I
eventually tossed the _B_news that SCO used to "publish", and used a copy
of Cnews I was given...by somebody, somewhere.

    Two Questions:

    1. Where can I find a copy of Cnews (compiled only, please...)

    2. Has anyone managed to use PIne on such an animal?

What has Pine got to do with Cnews?  Pine is a Mail User Agent, and Cnews
has zero commands that are ever used by non-administrative users.

While Campbell has long since switched to inn, ftp.celestial.com may still
have cnews in its directories.

He probably means the news reading capability of pine.  Why anyone would
want to read news via pine is beyond me, but it does work.

You need an nntp server though, pine won't read a local news spool.  Celestial
probably has the nntp-t5 package somewhere near C News.

We have cnews only for Xenix (because I switched our news system to
Unix before switching to inn-1.4).

The news transport (cnews, inn, ...) have nothing to do with editors.
Every news READER (tin, nn, ?rn,...) I've seen will allow you your
choice of editors.

Pine will read the local news spool, but it needs an nntp server for posting.

I use Pine with CNews.
