PINE for SCO Unix 3.2R4.2

Post by John M. Roger » Tue, 12 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Someone was very kind and patient and was able to get me the binary for
PICO for SCO Unix 3.2R4.2.  Unfortunately, they didn't have PINE, which
I also need.   Since it doesn't seem like any of the neat-and-wonderful
sites for neat-and-wonderful freeware programs have any binaries for SCO,
and I have no compiler, I need to find someone who has it already compiled
(so much for neat-and-wonderful!).

If you have PINE, and can send it via e-mail as UUENCODED I would greatly
appreciate it.

Please send to my e-mail address below, as my address as posted seems to be
corrupted. (I have mentioned it to the powers that be)

We don't e-mail large files because it's at least 1/3rd larger, and
the intervening sites don't need to pay for your mail delivery.

1. SCO Unix v3.2r4.2 TMDOUT/TIMEOUT replacement for sh or rsh

In SCO Unix v3.2r4.2 for ksh there exits a TMDOUT variable.  If no input is in
x number of minutes, the shell will time itself out, and effectively logout.
(Other platforms have used this as TIMEOUT for x number of minutes and so on.)

So what would be the effect work-around or replacement if I had to use a
Bourne Shell instead of a ksh to time out the login (when I cannot switch to
ksh for other reasons)?

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I haven't been able to come up anything
that works as of yet.

TIA
