nslookup localhost:
Server: orion.aye.net
Address: 206.185.8.9 [My ISP's primary DNS server]
+++ orion.aye.net cannot find localhost: Non-existant host/domain
Any nslookup (ris2) gets routed to orion.aye.net instead of being resolved
by /etc/hosts. A ping ris2 (or 10.1.1.2) hangs. A ping from ris2 to ris
(actually 10.1.1.1) reports "request timed out". Pings to localhost,
ayenet or iglou work as usual.
/etc/hosts:
10.1.1.1 ris.UniXpress.com ris
10.1.1.2 ris2 ris2.UniXpress.com
10.1.1.3 risdos3 risdos3.UniXpress.com
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.UniXpress.com
192.107.41.4 iglou gator.fe0-3.lou.iglou.com
192.107.41.3 iglou2 iglou1.iglou.com
206.185.8.9 ayenet cassiopia.aye.net
206.185.8.8 ayenet2 orion.aye.net
/etc/resolv.conf:
domain UniXpress.com
nameserver 206.185.8.9
nameserver 206.185.8.8
hostresorder local bind
/usr/internet/etc/sco_ip/routes:
net default 206.195.8.1 [My ISP's router]
I thought the hostresorder above indicates usage of /etc/hosts and then
DNS but apparently in looking up localhost, it is going to the primary DNS
server and cannot find it.
Any ideas as to what/why this is happening?
Thank you,
Lucky
