TCP/IP for SCO 3.2v4.2

TCP/IP for SCO 3.2v4.2

Post by Joseph Pan » Tue, 05 Nov 1996 04:00:00

The SCO Rel 3.2v4.2 that we are using does not come with TCP/IP.  Someone
offers me the SCO TCP/IP 1.1.3 to install on it.

Does anyone know what version of TCP/IP will work with v4.2 of SCO?  Please
give me some ideas.  Thank you in advance.

The current version for 3.2v4.2 is 1.2.1 which will be available thru Nov.
30 (and longer depending on inventory in the channel).  I'm not sure how
old 1.1.3 might be ...

Joseph,

The version of TCP/Ip that you need is version 1.2.1.

There are two flavours of this, 2 user and multi user.

The 2 user TCP/Ip will only work with 2 user Unix 3.2v4.2.

The multi user version of TCP/IP will work with 16 user
Unix, 32 user, 64 user, 128 user, 512 user and 1024 user.
It will not work with 2 user unix.

If you compare the price of Multiuser TCP/IP 1.2.1 with an
upgrade from Unix 3.2v4.2 to OpenServer Enterprise 5.0.2 (this
has TCP/IP and more bulit in) then you may prefer to upgrade.

You need 1.2.1.  Grab it quickly, as it becomes obsolete (along
with the rest of the 3.2v4.2 menagerie) in about three weeks.

Or upgrade to OSR5.  This may or may not be a viable option
for you, but you can't make an informed decision until you've
considered the options ...

I'm looking for a TCP/IP suite fresh install for SCO Unix

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
