: Can anyone tell me if there is an IBM 3270 terminal emulation package
: that we could run on SCO Unix (3.2v4.2)? The package would actually
: have to emulate a 3174 control unit with 3278 terminals attached to it.
: It would also need the capability to connect via a synchronous dial-up
: modem.
We have had very good experience with the Data Talker U/X Board from Cleo
Communications. We've run it under SCO Unix 3.2v4.2, and some earlier
versions as well. I believe they Data Talker U/X has since been
upgraded, and may be an obsolete product, but they'll have a new product
to replace it (I think it's called Link U/X).
The Data Talker does emulate a cluster controller and you can attach
(virtual) 3274 terminals, or printers, to it. We haven't used the printer
capability at all. We have used the Data Talker to connect to a
mainframe via a synchronous dial-up modem, as well as via local connections.
The address I have for Cleo Communications is:
3796 Plaza Dr.
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
313/662-2002
Sales (Rockford, IL): 800/544-4072
But this info is a couple of years old. They have e-mail but I don't
have the domain name in front of me.
I hope this helps.
