Does anyone know why "uucp" does not send the job out immediately on
SCO5?

$Does anyone know why "uucp" does not send the job out immediately on
$SCO5?

There are options to uucp which tell it whether to try to send
the job immediately or whether to queue it for sending during the
next scheduled call.  What options are you using when you invoke
uucp?

Also, if you queue up a job and ask it to send it immediately, but
according to the Systems entry the system cannot be called at the
present time, the call will not be made until the next scheduled
calling time which is permitted.

One more item controls how UUCP operates when invoked by MMDF.
The file /usr/mmdf/mmdftailor allows the configuration string:

; Uncomment ONE of the following uux configurations.
; Spool but don't send, grading in effect.
UUXSTR "uux - -r -gA"
; Spool but don't send. (default)
;UUXSTR "uux - -r"
; Send stuff everything immediately.
;UUXSTR "uux -"

I extracted this from the mmdf43II documentation.
This string is included in the OSR5 documentation but is for
some reason missing in the 3.2v4.2 man pages.  It works for both.
Be sure to run dbmbuild after editing the mmdftailor file.

1. SCO5 HELP with MMDF & UUCP message repeating (0/1)

Please limit your lines to 80 characters, they are otherwise really hard to
read.   Thanks!

Does this apply to each and every mail message coming (via uucp) to each
and every user on your system?
Or is it only one user that is affected?
And do ALL of that user's messages repeat, or only those coming from a
particular origin?
After you zap something in the uucp spool directory, does the next item
with the same contents have the same D. or X. name?
Do your uucp logs show the same size message coming in over and over again?
IOW, perhaps the source is hiccupping, not your uucp subsystem.
