Server Failover

Server Failover

Post by Ulrich Eckhard » Fri, 27 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

we need a solution for server failover under SCO OpenServer 5.0.4
I have found a solution from 1776.com called 1776 Fault-freedom II.

Does anybody have expiriences with this software or knows an
other solution ?

Thanks
Uli

You might want to look at Star's Sentinal software.

I've never used the 1776 software.

1. Server failover/redundancy?

Howdy all -

We have one web site that we want to replicate across multiple servers.
With round-robin DNS, if one goes down, the customer's cached DNS could
still point their browser to a down server.  We are looking for a
solution where all requests for our web site can be routed off to
whatever servers are up and running.  Maybe one "traffic cop" machine
that fetches pages from any one of a number of active web servers, or
something like that.  We need a mechanism for detecting a server failure
and pulling the down server out of the list of available servers.

Anyone have any pointers to documentation on how to do this, or any
ideas?  Any help *greatly* appreciated.

Regards, and happy Thanksgiving,
