Need help shutting off ODT Screensaver

Post by Dennis A Herri » Tue, 27 Jun 1995 04:00:00

Hi Folks:

We're putting together a customer demo and we

need to shut off the screen saver that runs under

Open Desktop.  I'm assuming that it's a resource

file that needs to be changed.  Anyone done this?

The ODT graphical display and X manuals were not

much help and we tried changing the TBLNK kernel

parameter and relinked the kernel with no luck.

Thanks,

Dennis Herrick

Try using the xset program. If you run it with 'xset s off' this will
disable the X-Window screen saver. You can include this in your .startxrc
file if you want to make it always disabled.

Parameter TBLNK affects SCO VGA console screensaver activity,
graphical screen saving option (for any display controlled by
X server) can be turned off using xset(X):

    xset s off

1. linux screensaver can shut off monitor

[This is an X question; cross-posted, followups set to comp.os.linux.x.]

Yes; you need to enable DPMS for your X server.  (Technically here
it's the X server shutting off the monitor.)  Add
'Option "power_saver"' to each "Display" section in your XF86Config
file, and use xset(1x) to set up when the monitor shuts off.
