users have su priv's but su fails

after recovering from a crash my SCO O.S. 3.2v4.2 denies users, which have
the privilege to use the su command, the use of su. All you get
is "Sorry" after typing in the password.

SCO SSL says that you have to check user-priv's via sysadmsh, but
they are already set there! (They are set system wide
concerning the su command).

I think it's a result of the crash-recovery, but don't know where to
look for. Any hints ?

Thanks in advance.
