Sco and term using sco ansi

Post by Nguyen Lam So » Sat, 17 Jan 1998 04:00:00

'lo all

I've got some troubles using a teminal emulator with SCO Unix.
Note that the terminal emulator MUST be in sco ansi mode, because
it's used with a Client/server program that was done for sco ansi mode.
It's strange, I can't find in /usr/lib/terminfo/ the sco ansi term
description.
Can anyone help ?

thanks

Oh yes

On OSr5 the scoansi emulation description is called 'ansi' in the
mistaken belief that the description is and the emulators
support a 100% ansi superset.
This has caused no end of confusion and as has already been pointed out is
not the right thing to do...

There will be a scoansi description eventually for systems that expect
a sco ansi emulation to be called scoansi (what a concept) and the
SCO supplied emulators will actually describe themselves as using it
(eventually)

In the interim as tom sez use the 'ansi' description...

Alternatively 'infocmp' the ansi description and edit it be named scoansi
then 'tic' it back - voila a sco ansi description

1. SCO ansi from Linux term?

Hi All

I have created a terminfo entry called linux on a OSR504 system to
enable me to run a character application served from the SCO box and to
use Linux PC's as terminals!

The terminfo is all but working except for 1 key.  The problem is with
my backspace key which is sending a destructive carriage return no
matter what I set it to on both the RedHat 6.1 Linux system and the SCO
OSR 504 system.  The terminfo source (with one of the many options I
have tried on kbs=) is below!  If anyone can help I would be most
grateful;-)

Thanks Simon
