Cannot ftp into OpenServer

I don't know why this is happening, but we have never been able to ftp
into the SCO server.  The server is running and prompts for the username,
but after entering in valid usernames, we get an error status of 530
(access denied).  Anonymous and root access yields similiar results.
We've looked at the /etc/ftpaccess config file and everything looks as it
should, but still no go.

I've never had any problems ftp'ing into any other Unix system.

So maybe everything is NOT as it should be in your ftpaccess file.
Show it to us.

Or possibly your ~ftp directory is missing required files in its bin,
etc, lib, usr/lib, or dev directories. What's in all of those?

Check your /etc/shells file.

Cannot ftp into OpenServer

It's working now.  There were a lot of things to set up that I thought
most Unices set up upon installation.  But then again I did not set up
this box so maybe it was disabled for some reason.

ftp is enable by default on OpenServer systems.  If you want
anonymous ftp, then you have to configure it and that is how it
should be.

1. Cannot FTP to RH5.2 box via any FTP pgm?

I have a RedHat 5.2 box with a eth0 card (Intel ).
I am conneting a two laptop network to the box.  On this box I want to start
building my web server.

I planned on getting the FTP going this weekend to make the HTML upl's
easier-
URRRR- wrong, not, been beating my head for 12 hours now!!!!

Everything else runs good thus far-
The Apache is up, the browsers connect via IP (or a hosts translation)
I can telnet to my Linux box from one of the clients and run fTP from there?

Now-  I have w95 on a laptop and no matter which FTP client I download, I
cannot get in?
any ideas?

I saw a tip on the RH site about Md5 and shadow pwd file enable?  Where to I
set that ?
