Upgrading from 5.02 to 5.04

Upgrading from 5.02 to 5.04

Post by Nick Water » Tue, 05 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

I'm having problems with upgrading from 5.02 to 5.04.
Has anyone had any success with the upgrade option ???.

Im currently getting the warning : NO UNIX Partition active when
choosing the upgrade option.

When the hwconfig settings appear at boot-time :

NO SCSI controller found / ciha
NO root disk controller found

All of the above was found when booting from floppy.

Can anyone suggest any solutions, should I go for the FRESH install,
are there any pitfalls I should be aware of ???

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated

Best Regards

Nick Waters

Sounds like you need some boot loadable drivers for your new kernal to be
able to recognise the hardware you have before the installation starts.

Tell us what machine you have and what SCSI adaptors it has.

Looks like a Compaq, yes? You need to make a boot diskette with
the ciha BTLD. I believe this can be done from a utility on the
Compaq CD.

1. Upgrade of 5.02 to 5.04 issues NFS, RSH login

(i) Previously it was possible to do an RSH without password.
After upgrade the RSH always requires password.
Any comments on how this may have been 'changed' during upgrade ?

(ii) NFS is failing to allow connection to a volume on local server.
Again this was fine before upgrade.
Any comment on NFS problems ?
