Hello,

My SCO Server 5 won't boot (dark screen and message "No OS"). We suspect
that the special files in dir /dev are corrupted (all or one of them), so
system
don't see any partition at all.

Is it any change to get them again and see HD and how? Any tool to use?
In case of NO backup...

This message comes long before anything has had a chance to look at the
/dev directory. In fact, it comes from masterboot. If the message was
"NO OS", that would be the SCO OpenServer masterboot. If it's really
"No OS" (lowercase "o"), it's the Win95 masterboot. You must have run
"FDISK /MBR" from Win95.

Boot your N00 floppy. Enter "tools" at the boot prompt. After a long
time you will get to a shell prompt. Run:

dparam -w
dparam /dev/rhd00 `dparam /dev/rhd00`
haltsys

Now boot from the hard disk.
