ScoColor not working under OS 5.0.2

ScoColor not working under OS 5.0.2

Post by Stefan Broh » Mon, 08 Sep 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

when I try to start scocolor I get the message, that "scocolor doesn't
support my monitor type".

I have a Diamond Stealth running with 1024 x 768 with 2MB and 64k
colors.
Monitor type is "other 17 inch". (tried also some others but no result)

In the documentation is told, that scocolor won't start if my display
supports only 16 colors, but that can't really be the problem ?
Anyone any ideas ?

Thanks, Stefan

scocolor only works in modes which use a color map (palette).  As the
man page says, "Only PseudoColor and grayscale visual X servers are
supported."

64K- and 16M-color modes use direct colors, where the bits of each pixel
directly represent the red, green and blue levels of the resulting dot.
16- and 256-color modes use palettes.  So scocolor only works in 16- or
256-color modes.

1. scocolor not starting ose5.0.0

I'm getting this error message when trying to run scocolor:
ScoColor does not work with this type of display.

Here's the Video Configuration (I'm actually using a different monitor
with superior specs than the Mag):

  * - Diamond Stealth 64 Video VRAM (S3 Vision968 chipset)
      MAG MX17F
      1280x1024 64K Colors, 75Hz, 4MB

I remember running scocolor a long time ago, it used to work.

System:
SCO 3.2v5.0.0 rs500d net100 ahs52 rs25c rs39a oss408 oss409 oss414 oss415
oss416 oss422 oss424 oss430 oss434 oss436 oss437 oss438a oss441 oss449

Has anyone seen this?  Is there a fix?

Thanks,
-Rob
