Post by Ken VanDin » Sun, 30 Mar 1997 04:00:00

A month ago I install SCO 5.0.2 successfully on 486 machine with IDE 2.5GB
HD and IDE CD-ROM.  I removed SCO to make a dos partion and tried
reinstalling SCO and it fails every time at the mounting stage.

the message says:

Exit Value: 1 Status Value: 256
bytes per logical block = 1024
total logical blocks = 2434500
total inodes = 608632
gap (physical blocks) = 1
cylinder size (physical blocks) = 400
setting cluster to default size (16)

Please help me....

A supplement, oss451, is required to install OSR5 on EIDE drives larger
than 2GB.  You must have used that when your previous install succeeded.

1. PLEASE help me do a SCO install with IDE CDROM!

Please help me do a Free SCO install on my machine with IDE CD!

I have been trying for a couple of hours to do an install and
can't get it to work. Here is my Hardware:

        -Mitsumi IDE (FX001) CD ROM
        -Matrox Millenium Video Card
        -Western Digital 2.5 Gig HD
        -Fujitsu 540 MB HD
        -Intel 486 DX4-100
        -USR 28.8 Internal Modem
        -SB 16 Pnp Sound Card
        -Canon BJC 4100 printer

The Hard Disks are on the Motherboard controler (WD is master and is
partitioned in 2). The CDRom came with it's own controller card and
the controller card is plugged into the board. The CD is the only
device on the card.

Here is what I tried:

        - just hit enter at the Boot prompt
-Get error when I choose SCSI CDROM as media
-the error says: "No SCSI adapter found. Must
                         have adapter configured ..."

        - defbootstr ahslink=wd ct=none
-loads all the drivers from the second disk
-I chose "r" to replace (also tried "a")
                        -Same error as above

        -defbootstr sdsk=wd(1,0,0,0)
                -Still wants the SCSI adapter

        -defbootstr disable=dptr
                -same error again!

I even tried combinations of the above with no luck. When it finds
the hardware (ie %disk 0x01 ...), it doesn't list anything for the
CDROM. It also gives the following error but keeps going:
"WARNING: hd: no root disk controller"

Can someone PLEASE help me install this sucker!??!
