Problems configuring additional serial printer

Problems configuring additional serial printer

Post by Craig Yonamin » Tue, 19 Mar 1996 04:00:00

I been trying to add an additional serial printer but have had no success
in coming close.  There are two existing printers configured identically
and they are working fine.  Since I didn't configure these I am not sure
exactly how they were set up.  To eliminate any cable or printer setup
differences I moved a good printer to the new port that I wanted to
configure, took all the information that 'lpstat -p printer -l' gave and
configured the new port exactly.  But still nothing.  Are there any other
places to look for a setup or configuration parameters, that might be the
difference?  It's frustrating since the only thing that is different is
the newly configured port.  There are no forms, content type is simple,
printer type is unknown, connection is direct, interface is
/usr/spool/lp/model/dumb, and no default printing attributes.

Please lend some assistance I have spent a week trying to get one printer
working.  I would appreciate any help.

What happens ? Does the printer print anythig at all ? Did you see if the

1. how to configure serial port for serial printer?

hi

i have a serial postscript printer connected to serial port a
of my sparc clone.  I just need to know what all the serial
port settings need to be in order to print to it.  in admintool,
there are such settings as terminal type, login prompt, service,
and streams modules, as well as others which are either enabled
or disabled.  could some kind soul either tell me what they need
to be, or point me to a howto or faq?  i can't seem to find any
documents that address the process of serial printing in solaris.
thanks.
