ftp can't not login?

Post by Joshua Chan » Thu, 13 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hello~

After I reinstall my SCO 3.2v5.0.4, I can't ftp by login with root.
It shows me some messages:

220-
220 lctpp FTP server (Version 2.1WU(1)) ready.
Name (192.9.207.87:root):
530 User root access denied.
Login failed.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.

Is anything wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Look at /etc/ftpusers. It probably contains root as one of the possible
names. If you want root to be able to ftp to your server, delete or
comment out his name.

Definitely not. If you ever have a duty ftp server on the Internet,
you'd be well advised not only to include root in ftpusers, but also any
other local user included in /etc/passwd.
