Need info on MySQL or other SQL database servers

I am looking for a low cost or free database server  for SCO unix and /or
DEC Alpha Unix 4.0 (OSF).

It must support SQL/ODBC.

I have seen docs on the product MySQL.  They compare it to Empress, mSQL,
PostgreSQL, and SOLID Server.  

Has anyone used any of these products and have any comments:

1. Does their SQL work?
2. Does their ODBC work?
3. Is the database server stable?
4. Are batch database updates fast?
5. Is this a  tool to store >8Gigs of data?
