Help please with Colorado Jumbo 250

Post by Peter Thor » Wed, 29 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I am having problems backing up onto my Colorado Jumbo 250 Tape Drive.  I
have defined it (seemingly) OK to the O/S.
When it starts up it tells me :
%ctmini - - - Version 3.20  type=QIC-80
and when it was installed it told me it was device
/dev/rft0 /dev/xft0  /dev/rctmini  /dev/xctmini
but when I try and specify any of these devices when running the backup
(from the Control-D) GUI application, it refuses to recognise the device.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any useful suggestions.

Thanks

Peter Thorn

Yes -- the tape drive is not supported by any SCO driver, no matter
which OS and version you are using.  (However, your next question will
not be so easy to answer without that information.)

I have one of these drives, and the beta drivers that HP has on their
ftp site cause core dumps whenever I try to backup anything substantial
(though they installed okay and will format the drive).

I'm looking for a supported drive.  I want to use the SCO drivers.  Anyone
feel comfortable recommending a PC tape drive?
